Goals inspire—when they are tangible, understandable, and jointly owned. As part of a pilot project, the foundation began implementing OKRs as a modern goal management system—taking leadership and collaboration to the next level.

The Assignment

We supported a German foundation in piloting the Objectives & Key Results (OKR) methodology within one of its divisions. The aim was to establish an effective understanding of goal-setting, empower leaders in applying the method, and help initial teams formulate clear and motivating goals. Additionally, we contributed to the foundation’s leadership conference with a keynote on “Leading with Goals,” focusing on goal-oriented work, effectiveness, and motivation.

Our Approach

1. Introduction of the OKR Methodology in the Pilot Area

In collaboration with the internal project team, we guided the introduction of the OKR logic in a selected division—focusing on impact, clarity, and practical relevance.

2. Facilitation & Implementation of Initial OKR Cycles

In facilitated workshops, we worked with leaders and teams to develop their first Objectives & Key Results—aligned with strategic goals and operationally actionable.

3. Keynote at the Leadership Conference

As part of the conference, we delivered a hands-on keynote on “Leading with Goals”, emphasizing how goals must be formulated and communicated, so employees understand their purpose and feel motivated.

4. Reflection & Further Development

Initial experiences from the pilot were reflected on collaboratively and used to prepare for broader scaling and adaptation of the OKR approach across the foundation.

The Result

The OKR approach was successfully introduced in one division. Teams and leaders gained clarity on goals, impact logic, and priorities. The keynote at the leadership conference deepened the shared understanding of goal-oriented collaboration and strengthened the leadership culture. The pilot provides a solid foundation for further roll-out.
