Development of a Nationwide Building Expert Center
Innovation
The building sector plays a key role in the energy transition. With a new nationwide Building Expert Center, dena is creating a platform for knowledge, quality, and networking – targeting around 5 million professionals in real estate and urban development.
The Assignment
On behalf of the German Energy Agency (dena), we supported the strategic development of a Building Expertise Center for Innovation and Quality. The goal was to establish a viable structure tailored to professional users such as planners, energy consultants, property owners, and municipal decision-makers. To achieve this, internal structures were realigned, user needs were assessed, and strategic fields of action were derived. Our role was to accompany the process in a facilitative, structured, and goal-oriented way.
Our Approach
1. Structural Review & Organisational Realignment
We analysed existing internal processes and supported the development of an agile and goal-oriented organisational structure.
2. User Integration & Vision Development
User needs were identified through surveys and transformed into actionable vision statements during collaborative workshops.
3. Defining Strategic Fields of Action
Findings were translated into key strategic focus areas that now guide the structure and development of the centre.
4. Facilitation & Process Support
Throughout the project, we facilitated the strategic process with a focus on clarity, implementation readiness, and motivational alignment.
The Result
Foundational work for a nationwide Building Expert Center was successfully completed. A clear vision was defined, internal structures were aligned, and the concept was tailored to the needs of approx. 5 million professionals. The process was experienced as collaborative, impactful, and empowering.
